LARA BRICKER INK
"...Lara Bricker knows more about Exeter than anyone else alive or dead."
-DAN CHARTRAND, OWNER OF WATER STREET BOOKSTORE
"Lara Bricker uses her gift of gab for good. If you want to know what's happening in Exeter all you have to do is ask her. Or don't ask. She'll tell you anyway."
-Howard Altschiller, Executive Editor for Seacoast Media Group
"Bricker will hear a strange item — such as the fact that someone, somewhere, is making gourmet cheese out of moose milk — and rather than react the way most of us would, which would be to say “Hmmm, isn’t that interesting” and then move on, Bricker actually goes out and investigates."
-LARS TRODSON, BLOCK ISLAND CHAMBER PRESIDENT & AUTHOR OF EAGLES FLY ALONE
Lara Bricker is a journalist, true crime author, former private investigator and certified cat detective. She has been writing and reporting on crime and justice issues since 1998. A community journalist at heart, Lara is among those mourning the loss of resources for local journalism. This has led her to expand her work as a publicist and media strategist as a way to help stories find an audience.
Her work has appeared in the Portsmouth Herald, the Exeter News-Letter, the Hampton Union, the New Hampshire Union Leader, Woman's World magazine, USA Today, Vulture, and the Boston Globe. In 2008, she covered the first death penalty case to go to trial in New Hampshire in almost fifty years for the Associated Press.
As a news reporter, she has received numerous awards from both the New Hampshire Press Association and the New England Newspaper & Press Association for her crime and investigative reporting.
Lara was previously a licensed private detective. She worked as a defense investigator for the New Hampshire Public Defender system for seven years. During that time, she was involved in investigating cases from misdemeanor assaults to felony murders.
Lara is a board member of Exeter LitFest, which hosts an annual weekend literary festival to celebrate the rich literary heritage of the town of Exeter, NH. She is also very active with the Great Bay Charter School Boosters.
Lara lives in Exeter, New Hampshire where she can often be found walking around town plotting her next local murder mystery or riding her pink scooter while trying to talk to everyone she sees.
